  It's official (and obvious)
Hotline:

NBC's Lauer noted on the "Today" show this a.m.: "For months now the White House has rejected claims that the situation in Iraq has deteriorated into a civil war. And, for the most part, news organizations like NBC have hesitated to characterize it as such. But after careful consideration, NBC News has decided a change in terminology is warranted -- that the situation in Iraq with armed militarized factions fighting for their own political agendas -- can now be characterized as a civil war" (11/27).

It shows how truly absurd our national media conglomerate is that it took this long for them to start reporting the truth.  "Sectarian strife" be damned, this thing has been a civil war for over a year.  The sheer absurdity is surpassed only by our own government, which continues to burrow its head further into the sand.

Comments:
I missed the "Today" show this morning but was stunned to read that NBC finally accepted reality. I strongly agree with Cicero that it is time the US government and citizens all remove their heads from the sands of the Persian Gulf and realize the pandemonium and civil war we have created. Furthermore by NBC "finally" acknowledging the truth of the situation is depressing in that our media conglomerates are in as much denial as the government. It is time we turn off the tv and find alternative sources of news that provide the truth!

This reminds me of the episode of Inside the Actor's Studio with Dave Chappelle. He talks about the way many of the rumors about him were handled, and it really does paint a picture of how unreliable the media is. I know that this is way off the topic of what's going on in Iraq, but hearing about how the media twists truths to fit their "agenda" is extremely frightening.

seems someone got confused and we are now in a "can't join 'em, so we will beat 'em"

or perhaps we a concerned admitting it is a civil war would make us seem civil?

or maybe we do not know if there can be a 3 way civil war

good post
