  More on Uzbekistan
Karimov wants U.S. troops out. Somebody turned up the heat on him, which is great to see. I doubt it was Bush, Rumsfeld, or any of the Freedom Crew. It looks like the State Department, that bastion of moderation, is doing its job. Though Colin Powell blew it with the WMD presentation at the U.N., he was able to at least maintain State as a quasi-independent, moderate voice in the government. It looks like Condi, however flawed, has done a few good things too. And both of them hate John Bolton. I'm not gonna be their cheerleader but I'll give credit where credit is due.

Hopefully they'll continue to press Karimov, and take it to another level.
